Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray. Proverbs 22:6
Summer School
One of the biggest traditions in Christian Education at Bethlehem is the Summer School program. Although the length of the program has changed throughout the years, the core teachings have not. Students learn lessons from the Old and New Testaments; and also components from the catechism. In addition to class time, there is also daily memory work. Summer School runs for three weeks and is for youth going into grades 3 through 8. It is taught and run by the youth director, pastor and other support staff. Summer School is not only a great tradition, but it is a wonderful ministry that kids look forward to each year. The event culminates in a campout and congregational program.
Sunday School
Sunday school is at 9am and is for all youth grades preschool through high school. Sunday School is held from September through May, and is taught by many members of the congregation. The lessons are Bible based featuring stories from both Old and New Testament. There are also creative lessons, like reenacting the Last Supper and bringing Bible characters to life by studying a Holy Land adventure. The Sunday School also leads the Christmas Eve service and participates in philanthropic projects throughout the year.
VBS
Vacation Bible School is a fun-filled week during the summer where children will learn about Jesus and His great love for us. Each day the children get to learn and know Christ and explore the Bible through story, song, craft, games and more! At Bethlehem, our Vacation Bible School is for all children age 3 through those just finishing 2nd grade. Themes for the last few years have been:
2021 - VBS: Can you Dig it?
2019 - Blast off for VBS
2018 - How great thou art
2017 - Kindgom
